In the recent 10 years Algeria opens its agrofood market to the competiton ; which generated numerous opportunities of creations of SMEs.The private market meets growth rates over 10 % per year. It remains the most expanding sector in Algeria with high needs in process, equipments and packaging (in particular in the sectors of “fruit & vegetables” and of “beverages”).
This sector requires an annual investment of 440 milions euros
Algeria has to invest annualy 440 millions euros in the agrofood sector in order to meet the population needs up to 2010.
Algerian companies have to cope with a strong competition mostly generatd by the market economy as well as by the agreement “Algeria / EU and by the willingness of becoming soon a WTC Member. These companies will have to improve their levels for getting more competitive and performant.
